Godfather why michael killed fredo

The Mafia made Michael the ruthless and feared man that he was probably more because he never wanted the role of Godfather until it was obviously his only choice for the survival of himself and his family. Fredo, moments before his death at Lake Tahoe.

However, it was only a deception to draw Fredo in so as to have him murdered by Al Neri. At that point in the story, Michael won back his family.

Vito was the better better man and the better father. Michael was the better Godfather. While Vito was loved and feared, Michael never figured out how to have both and instead went for just being feared. He was nasty to Tom right from the get go. Senator Geary thought they would talk alone, but Michael says asking them Tom being one of them to leave would be an insult.

He's willing to forgive multiple betrayals, as long as they're unintentional. But nobody conspires against the Don and lives, even the Don's own brother.

In the mafia , Michael ordering the killing of his own brother is perfectly justified because of Fredo's treachery. Fredo isn't the only one who betrays a family member. After Michael discovered Fredo's betrayal, he used his own son, Anthony, to form a bond with Fredo as a way to draw him in.

The godfather is so shattered with guilt that at one point he confesses the murder to the future pope himself. For Michael, this is a fate worse than death. Initially, he never wanted to join the family business. After returning home as a war hero, he only became involved in the family's affairs after the Tattaglias nearly assassinated Vito at a produce stand.

Michael became the Don in order to protect his family. And in the end, it destroyed them. Paramount Pictures. Michael had no choice but to kill his brother Paramount Pictures. But in the end, the decision still destroys Michael Paramount Pictures. There's a big difference between killing your own brother to piss off your sister as opposed to killing a whore in order to gain enormous power by putting a senior ranking senator in your hip pocket.

There is a big difference, but I agree with estcst that Vito would not have done it or condoned it being done. It is and that's kind of my point. Michael has shown his willingness to do some pretty slimy things. I'm not saying it's not possible, just highly unlikely. Michael could have killed Fredo any time after Mama died. Why that particular moment? To punish Connie. We all agree that Michael didn't want his mother to suffer her son's death, so he would wait until she died.

But immediately after his mother's funeral would be the last point in time he would have Fredo killed. By the time their mother died, Connie and Michael were again on good terms.

Plus it makes no sense; Connie never betrayed Michael. But if he truly wanted to punish Connie, he would have snuffed Merl or any of the other men who treated her "like a whore" during the time Connie was a big thorn in his ass. Michael didn't punish Connie; he did enough to her already.
